Project Overview

RSIL in collaboration with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation conducted research on the use of Bilateral Investment Treaties (BITs) by developing countries with a specific focus on Pakistan’s state practice. The objective of the research was to evaluate the utility of these instruments and to explore alternatives which would balance the rights of foreign investors while also providing safeguards for destination states.

Project Outcomes

RSIL produced a research paper on the subject area and conducted a national seminar in partnership with the Board of Investment, Government of Pakistan and the Federal Law Ministry. RSIL’s research findings were well received by all stakeholders and resulted in policy regulation by the Board of Investment on this area.
