Jamal Aziz
About
Mr. Aziz is a recognized international law expert in Pakistan and has been working at the forefront of major international law issues faced by Pakistan in the past decade. He currently serves as the Executive Director of the Research Society of International Law, a position he has held since April 2016. In addition, he also serves as Director of the Centre of Excellence for International Law at the National Defence University, Islamabad and is also a member of the Prime Minister’s Working Group of Experts on Pakistan’s International Investment Regime Reforms.
At RSIL and CEIL, NDU, Mr. Aziz leads Pakistan’s largest legal research team, carrying out cutting-edge research and providing specialized legal advice to a wide range of Government ministries, state institutions and international organizations.
During this time, he has overseen the development of nearly 200 publications relating to counter-terrorism, national security, climate change, criminal justice, human rights, governance, and rule of law which have resulted in legislative reform and policy actions at the Federal and Provincial level and contributed to Pakistan’s foreign policy positions on strategic issues. He has also provided trainings on these areas to thousands of stakeholders in Pakistan, including senior civilian and military policymakers, justice sector actors and civil society.
Mr. Aziz completed his LL.M with Distinction from University College London in September 2010.
